REFRIGERATED
BUILDINGS SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL
Coldrooms or combination cooler-freezers provided under this portion
of the specifications shall be constructed or prefabricated, all
metal clad, sectionally constructed panels designed for accurate
and rapid field erection. They shall be so designed as to allow
if desired, future enlargement by the addition of panels.
Walk-ins shall be by Coldmatic Refrigeration
CONSTRUCTION PLANS AND INSTRUCTIONS
Each walk-in shall have a complete set of installation instructions,
accompanied by erection drawings. All panels shall have number code
labels attached, with number corresponding to panel number appearing
on erection drawings, so that field erection is as accurate and
as rapid as possible.
1. Section Construction
Sections shall be made in multiples of 300 MM (12" nominal) widths
up to and including 1500 MM (60" nominal) shall be interchangeable
for fast and easy assembly.
Panels shall consist of 70 MM (3") to 160 MM (6.3") rigid, "foamed
in place" urethane insulation sandwiched between interior metal
pans (see par. 4) which have been precision die formed and gauged
for continuous uniformity in shape and size. Section edges shall
be free of any wood or structural support.
To assure proper alignment and strength, corner sections shall
be 90 degree angles.
Floor panels construction shall be similar to other panels, but
in addition must be so designed as to withstand uniformly distributed
loads up to 500 pounds per square foot. (consult factory)
2. Floor Screeds (Floorless Models Only)
Shall be designed to be easily anchored to masonry floors so as
to provide an accurate template for the erection of the wall sections.
(Field shimming may be necessary if concrete floor is unlevel).
Interior and exterior metal finish shall be the same as the wall
panels and screed insulation shall be the same as described in Paragraph
3.
3. Insulation
Each panel shall be completely filled with rigid "foamed in place"
urethane having a thermal conductivity of K = .0170 W / M2 / 0C
/ M thickness (K = .118 BTU / FT2 / 0F / Inch) and an overall heat
transfer coefficient (U factor) of not more than .004 W / M2 / 0C
for 100 MM panels.
Precision amounts of insulation shall be metered into each panel
so that no voids or vacancies shall occur. The insulation shall
bond tenaciously to the interior and exterior metal pans to form
rigid, strong panels. The urethane insulation shall have a 98% closed
cell structure making it highly resistant to moisture absorption.
The overall in place density of the urethane insulation shall be
approximately 35.2 KG / M3 (2.2 P.C.F.) with an approximate core
density of 32.0 KG / M3 (2.0 P.C.F.). The insulation shall be rated
as fire retardant self-extinguishing and shall remain stable up
to 130° C (266° F) the compression strength at yield point of the
insulation shall be approximately 2.11 KG / M2 (30 LB / IN2). The
overall wall thickness shall be 70 MM (3") to 160 MM (6.3").
4. Metal Finishes (Specify one or a combination of the
following - *denotes standard)
4A. Interior or exterior walls, ceilings, and exterior floors
a) oven baked white acrylic enamel *
b) bright 1 ¼ (35 gm) ounce galvanized steel
c) stucco embossed aluminum
d) type No. 304 stainless steel
4B. Interior floor
a) bright 1 ¼ (35 gm) ounce galvanized steel *
b) smooth aluminum
c) type No. 304 stainless steel
5. Panel Locking Assemblies
Panels shall be fastened together using Coldmatic CAM LOK fastening
devices. After the CAM LOK is engaged, the sections shall be compressed
to assure an air tight, vapor proof joint. To complete the joining
operation, a flush plastic snap-in cap shall be inserted into the
access hole. Distances between locks normally are 36" (91 cm). In
order to enable a walk-in to be erected tight against a wall, all
locks must be accessible from inside the walk-in.
6. Entrance Door and Door Selection
Each walk-in (or compartment in each walk-in) shall be fitted with
one standard swing entrance door. This door will be located in a
1200 MM (48") wide door frame and shall be an infitting type. The
finish of the door and door section will match the wall in which
it is located unless otherwise specified. Construction of the door
and door section shall be as described in Paragraph 3 (insulation).
Door and door section shall be fitted with the following:
| A. |
Positive type door latch and strike shall be
chrome plated of the inside safety release type to prevent
entrapment of personnel within the cabinet when the door is
padlocked. |
| B. |
Door shall be fitted with tow (2) heavy duty,
cam lift hinges. |
| C. |
Door may be fitted with a magnetic type gasket,
impervious to acids, greases, etc. Gasket shall be applied
to three edges of the door. The bottom edge shall be fitted
with an approved sweep type gasket and to be easy to replace.
The magnetic gasket shall be retained by a plastic extrusion
which acts as a thermal breaker strip between the outside
and inside door pans. |
| D. |
Each door section shall have a concealed heater
wire in the entire perimeter of the door frame. This heater
shall provide sufficient heat to prevent condensation and
frost formation. |
| E. |
Each door section shall be provided with an
incandescent vapor proof light on the interior. A flush mounted
toggle switch and pilot light shall be mounted on the exterior.
A service box and conduit shall be provided for 115 volt,
1 phase, 60 cycle service. |
7. Warranty
The manufacturer shall warrant that the installed walk-in is free
from defects in material or workmanship under normal use and service,
and shall be obligated to repair or replace any part of this equipment
which proves defective within a period of one year from the original
installation date. This warranty shall not apply to equipment which
as been subjected to any accident, alteration, abuse, misuse, or
improper installation, and shall not include labor charges for the
repair or replacement of defective parts.
